The modern navy around the world prefer to have aircraft carriers. They substantially increase the range of operation.
The Indian Navy and People's Liberation Army Navy is no exception. 
A brief comparision is presented to you :

Comments : 1. India went a step ahead of China after it acquired its third aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya from Russia.
2. INS Vikramaditya is state-of-the-art. It is armed with more than two dozen Mikoyan MiG-29K 'Fulcrum-D' including 4 dual-seat MiG-29KUB aircraft, 6 Kamov Ka-31 "Helix" reconnaissance and anti-submarine helicopters, torpedo tubes, missile systems, and artillery units.
3. India has considerable experience of operating mean machines in the sea.

Comments : 1. China is relatively inexperienced when it comes to managing fleets of aircraft carriers. People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Liaoning is China's first aircraft carrier.
2. Experts have raised doubts over the capabilities of the Chinese carrier. It has been described as ' a test platform not capable of performing outside the Chinese water territory.
